The Minnehik Buck Lake Facility is located in Alberta approximately 50 kilometres southwest of the town of Drayton Valley. Plant facilities include inlet separation, gas sweetening, compression, NGL recovery, condensate stabilization, sulphur recovery and power generation. The plant receives its raw gas from numerous wells connected by an extensive network of pipelines.
The raw inlet capacity is 4496 103m3/day, while the maximum H2S inlet capacity is 39.7 tonnes/day. The plant was built in 1961 and the original operator was Canadian Delhi Ltd. Sulpetro Ltd. purchased Canadian Delhi working interests in 1984 and the Deep Cut plant was added in 1985. Norcen Energy assumed operatorship in 1988, till Penn West Petroleum purchased Norcen working interests in 1995. A rerigeration plant was added in 1996 and a co-gen plant was added in 1998. Keyera purcased Penn West working interests in 2010. The partners in the complex include: Keyera Corp. 61.9%, Anderson Energy 17.9%, Enerplus 8.1%, Sabre Energy 0.5%, Suncor Energy 10.0% and TAQA North 1.6%.
