Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, L.L.C. (Tennessee), a Kinder Morgan company, received a certificate order authorizing its MPP Project from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Aug. 9, 2012. The MPP Project, once constructed, will provide approximately 240,000 dekatherms per day of incremental firm transportation capacity from the developing production region along its existing 300 Line system to serve established markets, including markets in the Northeast United States. The MPP Project facilities include the installation of approximately 7.9 miles of 30 inch diameter, high-quality steel pipe looping on Tennessee’s 300 Line in Potter County, Pennsylvania.
Also planned are modifications and upgrades at four existing compressor stations on Tennessee’s 300 Line system in Mercer, Venango, McKean and Potter counties in Pennsylvania. To minimise disturbance, pipeline looping will follow an existing Tennessee pipeline corridor wherever practicable and legally permitted. Permitting, construction, operation, and maintenance will meet all applicable safety and environmental regulations. Negotiations for any additional easement rights or temporary workspace that are needed for the MPP Project are on a case-by-case basis with affected landowners.
The MPP Project is separate from, but complements, other Tennessee projects in the region, including the 300 Line Project, which was placed into service in late 2011 and the Northeast Upgrade Project. After all regulatory approvals are received for the MPP Project, construction is anticipated to occur primarily in summer 2013, with selective tree clearing occurring in early 2013. The anticipated in-service date for the MPP Project is November 1, 2013. The natural gas could come from various supply areas, principally the Marcellus Shale.
