Project Profile

Value: Undisclosed
Location: Corpus Christi in Nueces County, Texas, USA
Reserves: 75 bcf and 1 million barrels of oil
Start-up Year: -
Drilling Depth: 2,750 to 3,600 metres

The Flour Bluff Gas Project is located near the city of Corpus Christi in Nueces County, Texas. The Flour Bluff field, discovered by Exxon in 1936, has produced in excess of 1 Tcfe mainly from shallow intervals and this new project refers to its redevelopment. These shallow reservoirs are now largely depleted, but significant reserves are present in virtually undeveloped deeper reservoirs between 2,750 to 3,600 metres depth. Significant upside also exists in the undrilled north western lobe of the Flour Bluff Gas Field. This part of the field lies beneath a Naval Air Station. Aurora holds a 20% working interest in approximately 1,400 acres on the undrilled north western lobe of the Flour Bluff gas field. Strata-X has a working interest that averages 12%.

The field has never been imaged by 3-D seismic and the company feels that this data could provide additional reserves not currently mapped. A report by the previous operator showed that the field contained potential gross reserves of 75 bcf and 1 million barrels of oil. The acquisition of 3D seismic data is being considered which could help identify additional reserves not currently mapped. With the current low natural gas prices in North America the continued development of the substantial potential at Flour Bluff may be sub-commercial and the Joint Venture has elected to slow the pace of development until gas prices recover. Aurora also holds an overriding royalty interest of approximately 0.13% over gas production from the Flour Bluff gas field.

Operators:

Strata-X surrendered its interests in the project effective 20 November 2012

Aurora Oil & Gas Limited: 20% working interest
