Project Profile

Location: Desoto Canyon Block 48
Water Depth: 6,325 feet (1,928 metres) in South Field and 5,883 feet (1,793 metres) in North Field
Start-up Year: -

The Dalmatian North field

The Dalmatian North field is located on De Soto Canyon Blocks 47 and 48 in a water depth of 5,883 feet (1,793 metres) in the Gulf of Mexico. Murphy serves as the operator and holds a 50% interest; Newfield holds 37.5%; and Mariner holds the remaining 12.5% interest.

On October 21, 2008, a discovery was made in the Dalmatian North field by the Ocean Confidence semisub. The well found more than 120 feet (37 metres) of net high quality gas pay. Plans are to develop the field as a subsea tie-back to existing infrastructure in the area.

To date, one well has been drilled on Block 47 in a water depth of 5,876 feet (1,791 metres) and was temporarily abandoned. Under a DOCD submitted to MMS on August 12, 2009, the operator proposes to complete the well and install a right-of-way pipeline with an associated umbilical and place the well on production. The proposed pipeline will tie in to the Main Pass 225, Platform A, located in 255 feet (69 metres) of water. The manned facility is operated by Dauphin Island Gathering Partners.

Well A is scheduled for completion during 2010 using the Diamond Offshore Ocean Confidence semisub. The well will be tied-back to Platform A via a control umbilical with electrical and hydraulic functions. Dalmatian\'s estimated commencement date is December 2010.

The Dalmatian South field

The Dalmatian South field is located on Desoto Canyon Block 48 in a water depth of 6,325 feet (1,928 metres). Newfield serves as the operator of the prospect, holding a 37.5% interest; Murphy holds 50% interest; and Mariner holds the remaining 12.5% interest.

The Dalmatian South project include the following elements provided by Subsea7:

• Fabrication and installation of reeled 6\"/10\" pipe-in-pipe flowline (21km)
• Design, fabrication and installation of two Pipeline End Terminals (PLETs)
• Design, fabrication and installation of three In-Line Sleds (ILS\')
• Fabrication and installation of two 6\" vertical jumpers
• Installation of a 5\" control umbilical (8.7km) including Subsea Umbilical Termination Assembly
• Installation of two steel tube flying leads and four electrical flying leads
• Pipeline pre-commissioning (hydro strength test and dewatering)

Operator:

Ecopetrol America Inc: Jointly owns both fields with Murphy Oil

Newfield: Operator with 37.5% interest of Sorth field and 37.5% interest in North Field
