The Carrizo block belongs to an investment project named Complex Antonio J. Bermudez of the Samaria Luna Asset of the Southern Region of Pemex Exploration and Production (PEP). Geographically it is located in the Municipality of Centro, State of Tabasco and 8 km west of the city of Villahermosa. There are 43 wells being drilled, while currently there are no operating wells. The type of hydrocarbon is heavy oil (22° API) & extra heavy (7 - 12° API). The reserves as of January 1, 2010 are: 1P Crude oil 0 mmb and gas 0 mmmcf, 2P Crude oil 5 mmb and gas 3.3 mmmcf, 3P Crude oil 49.8 mmb and gas 5.8 mmmcf.
In the 1st Mexican International Bid Round 2011 for exploration and production of mature fields, Dowell Schlumberger was awarded with the Carrizo Block. On December 15, 2011 Dowell Schlumberger will sign the E&P Integrated Contract. Schlumberger would begin work around mid-2012 at the mature Carrizo field in Mexico\'s southern region. Schlumberger\'s Dowell Schlumberger subsidiary offered to produce oil for US$9.40/boe from Carizzo, where operations were shut 20 years ago.
