Location: Central portion of the Golden Lane of the Asset Poza, Mexico

The Tierra Blanca block is located in the central portion of the so-called Golden Lane of the Asset Poza Rica-Altamira. It covers an area of 358 Km² and it includes, among others, the communities of Álamo and Cerro Azul state of Veracruz.

The block includes the following fields: Tierra Blanca-Chapopote Núñez, Cerro Viejo, Vara Alta, Potrero del Llano-Horcones, Temapache, Alazán and the northern portion of the field Álamo-San Isidro. Geologically it is located in the Tampico-Misantla Basin, in the reef facies of the Tuxpan Platform. The Tampico-Misantla Basin is located west side of Mexico and includes the south end of the state of Tamaulipas, the central portion of the State of Veracruz, portions of the west side of the states of San Luis Potosi and Hidalgo, the north portion of the state of Puebla and the continental platform to the bathymetry of 200 metres.

380 wells were drilled in the block of which 49 are operating, 44 are shut-in and 287 are plugged and abandoned. The crude produced in those fields is heavy with density varying from 15 to 27° API. The current reservoir pressure varies from 66 to 76 Kg/cm2. The current production is 1.8 MBD of oil and 1.2 MMCFD of gas.

Alfa managed to double production at the mature San Andrés and Tierra Blanca fields in Veracruz state to 5,000 boepd since the company won the incentive service contracts in June 2012.
