The Marcus Hook Facility was part of Sunoco, Inc.’s Northeast Refining operations. A United Steelworkers represented facility which can refine and process 175,000 barrels per day (42 gallons per barrel) of low sulfur sweet crude oil, primarily obtained from the North Sea and West Africa, into a wide range of petroleum and petrochemical products. Located on the banks of the Delaware River in the Borough of Marcus Hook and Township of Lower Chichester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania and Claymont, New Castle County, Delaware. The 781 acre refinery has about 700 employees and on a typical day will have 250 contractors onsite. The refinery is capable of making 90,000 barrels/day of gasoline (3.8 million gallons).
