On Walker Ridge Blocks 543 and 544 in the US Gulf of Mexico lies the Tucker prospect, situated in a water depth of 6,739 feet (2,054 metres). Statoil serves as the operator and has a 50% working interest in the field, BP owns a 30% interest and CNOOC owns the remaining 20% interest. On Jan. 25, 2006, the Diamond Ocean Confidence semisub was leased to BP to drill an exploration well at a TD of 29,630 feet (9,031 metres) in the Eocene reservoir. The semisub stayed on location until July 9, 2006, the drilling was not successful, so BP abandoned the well, G17003, on the Tucker prospect. During the third quarter of 2006, Statoil entered into an agreement with BP to participate in the drilling of an exploration well and filed an exploration plan to drill a wildcat on Walker Ridge Block 543. In September 2011, the field was revisited by the Maersk Developer semisub to drill a second appraisal well. The company is still reviewing the results.
