Start-up Year: -
Prospective Resources: 1.4 million boe (best)
Depth: 5,000 ft
Titan believes the southern flank of the salt dome to hold similar prospectivity as the northern flank which has produced over 760 million barrels of oil, from sands above 5,000 feet.
Titan Energy is currently negotiating with a project management consultant for the drilling for an initial well in the prospect area in quarter three of 2012, to test the J Sandstone Formation and the Niobrara Shale sands. Titan was due to spud the Hettinger #1 -15 well at the Sodbuster II prospect in the third quarter of 2013. Hettinger#1-15 was conceived as the first in a multi-well programme aimed at tapping 1.2 - 1.5 million boe in-place. As of April 2014, however, Titan Energy was still seeking a farm-in partner for 50% interest to help fund exploration costs.
The Sodbuster II prospect lies by three wells in the producing Sodbuster field which yielded over 360,000 barrels of oil over 17 years. The trap at Sodbuster field is stratigraphic with separated point bar sands crossing a structural axis and the target reservoir sands are thought to pass south-west along the axis. The sands are also thought to thicken as the lower delta plain is approached.
