Project Profile

Location: from terminus of Inergy Midstream’s MARC I pipeline in Lycoming County Pennsylvania to Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC.
Capacity: 800,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas
Length: 120 miles
Start-up year: 2015

The Commonwealth Pipeline is proposed to extend from the southern terminus of Inergy Midstream’s MARC I pipeline in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, towards the south to serve markets across southeastern Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. The pipeline will connect these attractive, high-growth demand markets directly to the prolific and reliable supplies of natural gas being produced from the Marcellus Shale. This access to natural gas production from across Pennsylvania is expected to be a more cost-effective pipeline transportation path compared to traditional, long-haul routes.

The 120 miles and 30-inch pipeline proposed pipeline is expected to transport an estimated 800,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas and to be placed in-service in 2015. The pipeline is expected to cross and interconnect with a number of existing interstate pipelines along its planned route, offering greater supply diversity for the demand market while providing producers with access to markets that are currently served only through existing interstate pipelines. Crossing Lycoming, Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Berks, and Chester Counties, is subject to route adjustments.
