Project Profile
Location: Gulf of Mexico
Water Depth:1,132 m / 3,736 ft
Discovery date: November 2009
Peak production: 3,000 b/d (May, 2012)

Located on Green Canyon Block 490 in a water depth of 3,845 feet (1,172 meters) is the Wide Berth (formerly known as Joliet Jake) prospect, situated roughly 120 miles (193 kilometers) from Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico. Apache operates the field.
On June 9, 2009, ERT submitted an IEP to MMS to drill, evaluate and complete or abandon operations of two exploratory wells on locations A and C. In addition to exploratory drilling, the plan also proposes to set sea floor templates, velocity surveys in well bores and perform well test operations.
On September 23, 2009, Diamond Offshore\'s Ocean America semisub commenced drilling an exploration well on the prospect. Drilling encountered 130 feet (40 meters) of net pay. Several months later, it was announced the discovery well was drilled to a depth of 13,504 feet (4,116 meters) by Ocean America, encountering 134 feet (41 meters) of net oil and gas pay in a single sand interval. The well was cased and temporarily abandoned as a future subsea completion.
The operator is analysing the field\'s data on how to best develop the find. One option being mulled is developing Wide Berth as a joint development with another recent discovery made in the area.
