The Shenzi field is located 104 miles (167 kilometers) south of Fourchon, La., in the Gulf of Mexico on Green Canyon Blocks 609, 610, 653 and 654. The field is operated by BHP Billiton, which holds a 44% interest in the project. Repsol holds 28%, and Hess holds the remaining 28% interest. Located in a water depth of 4,300 feet (1,311 metres), Shenzi lies in the Western Atwater Fold Belt area on the geological trend where the Mad Dog, Atlantis, and Neptune fields were found. Shenzi has estimated recoverable reserves of 350 to 400 MMboe.
