Project Profile

Location: Williston Basin, North Dakota & Montana, USA
Area: 155,000 net acres
Production: 3,500 BOE/d

Kodiak owns and controls approximately 155,000 net acres in this geologic basin. The primary target within the Williston Basin is the Bakken Pool consisting of the middle Bakken and Three Forks formations. In November 2011, Kodiak Oil & Gas Corp. agreed to acquire an additional 50,000 net leasehold acres and 3,500 BOE/d of current net production in the heart of the Bakken Trend. The acquisition closed on January 10, 2012 with an effective date of September 1, 2011. Kodiak now controls 155,000 net acres and over 800 net locations prospective for Bakken production.

In April 2008, The United States Geological Survey released an assessment of undiscovered oil resources for the regionally extensive Bakken shale play of 3 billion to 4.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil. Kodiak will allocate the majority of its 2009 capital budget and 2010 preliminary capital budget to drilling Bakken shale oil wells.
