The Amberjack field is located in the Gulf of Mexico on Mississippi Canyon Blocks 108, 109 and 110 in 319 metres. It was discovered in 1986, but production didn\'t commence until 1991. Currently, the field produces 900 bopd and 1.5 MMcf/d. The field is composed of stacked shelf and deepwater reservoir sands. Stone Energy, the operator, has a 100% working interest in Block 109, and a 24.8% working interest in Block 108. The lease covers approximately 5,760 acres.
Amberjack fixed platform is situated on Mississippi Canyon Block 109. Wholly owned by Stone Energy, the platform has 38 active wells that pump 10,550 barrels of crude oil and 15 MMcf/d (.4 MMcm/d). H&P was contracted by BP to perform drilling operations; J. Ray McDermott performed engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of the platform.
