The BlackGold oil sands project is located 140km southeast of Fort McMurray, within the Athabasca Oil Sands region of northern Alberta, around 10 km southeast of Conklin. The recoverable bitumen reserves are expected to be more than 200 million barrel.
Phase 1 - Phase One will see KNOC drill 18 steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) well pairs from three pads, together with some modification of the central processing facility (CPF) and associated infrastructure to facilitate bitumen recovery on the site and its export off the site either by pipeline or truck. It plans additional production wells and well pads as required to maintain production during the project\'s life.
Phase 2 - Phase Two includes Central Processing Facilities, Powerline, Tankage, Saline Water Source Wells, Distribution and Gathering Lines - by 2015.
