American Petro Hunter acquired between a 25 and 50% working interest in 2,000 acres of lands at the Ripley Prospect, North Oklahoma Project, located in Payne County. The acreage augments the company’s holdings to 3,400 total gross acres. The new acreage is located in a key area of the emerging, horizontal drilling play where over 100 foot thick sections of Mississippi Formation are now being exploited by laterally drilled, horizontal wells. Surrounding the company’s new lands are leases being developed by Tulsa based Calyx Energy. To date, Calyx has drilled 3 horizontal wells on leases within a mile and a quarter south of the block and, of significance to the company is the C&N 25-1H well that has been speculated to have had initial production rates (I.P.) of 1,000 barrels per day. Calyx also plans wells immediately north of our new lands and is currently exploiting prospects on over 40,000 acres in central and eastern Oklahoma.

The 2,000 acre block is now the central focus of the company’s 2011 development plan. A location for our first Mississippi horizontal has been drilled. The 1600 foot lateral had excellent oil and gas shows in the Mississippi and the well has been completed and is in commercial production. The company will have oil sales from the well July 2011. The lease block would allow, if successful the drilling of up to 15 horizontals on 160 acre parcels. A second horizontal is planned for Q3 2011.
