Project Profile
Location: Abkatun, Pol, Chuc Field, Mexico
Water Depth: 73 m
Area: 52.66 Km2
Start-up year: 4Q 2018
The Abkatun field is the biggest of the three and was the first to be developed. Approximately 6 months later, production started in Pol field, and finally, after 1 year, production began in Chuc field. Early simulation studies indicated the necessity of supplementing the partial aquifer activity to reach an optimal recovery. A pilot injection test was carried out in the vicinity of Abkatun field, injecting 5920 m3/d into three injection wells.
The Abaktun-A2 platform will be located in Mexico’s Bay of Campeche in 124 feet (38 m) of water and will provide replacement and expansion capabilities to the existing Ku-Maloob-Zaap, Cantarell and Ayatsil facilities. Offshore activities will begin in 2018. Handover to Pemex is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2018.
