Value: US$615 million
Location: Northeast British Columbia and northwest Alberta, Canada
Reserves: unknown
Area: 409,000 net acres
Cutbank Ridge resource play spans northeast British Columbia and northwest Alberta, and consists of gas production from the Montney, Cadomin and Doig geological formations. Using the latest technology to produce gas from within this tight gas reservoir, Encana focus at Cutbank Ridge is on long-term growth. The use of horizontal drilling and multi-stage hydraulic fracture stimulation techniques has generated attractive results in Cutbank Ridge. The Montney formation has been producing since 1998 and is the future of the production growth in this area. The Cadomin and Doig formations also add significant production to this resource play. In 2011 Encana drilled approximately 55 net wells in the Cutbank Ridge. The partnership of Encana and Mitsubishi holds 409,000 net acres of undeveloped Montney formation gas assets in the Cutbank Ridge play. Encana will operate the partnership and be the managing partner with 60% interest in the partnership.
