The Pegasus pipeline transports almost exclusively Western Canadian crude oil. The pipeline originally transported crude from the gulf coast to Patoka, Illinois. In 2006, Reversal project was completed and by 2009 the Expansion project was completed. In 2012, Exxon won a legal battle with FERC over pipeline charges.
