Project Profile
Value: Undisclosed
Location: Sukkar, Sindh, Pakistan
Production: 23 Million Cubic Feet per Day
Depth: 3,983 metres
Exploration completed: 29.06.16
In June 2016 the state-run Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) completed exploration activities in Thal West gas field in district Sukkar, Sindh and made a gas discovery with initial production of 23 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD). Initial results have found 23 MMCFD of gas in Thal East and it is expected after conducting further tests that the production may increase because the area has substantial potential in this regard.
The structure of Thal West No 1 was delineated, drilled and tested using OGDCL\'s in house expertise. The well was drilled down to the depth of 3,983 metres, targeting to test the hydrocarbon potential of Basal Sands of Lower Goru Formation, as primary objective. Significant reserves of hydrocarbon have been found in the Well Thal West No 1. The zone has produced 17.2 MMSCFD of gas through 36/64 choke at Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) 2,820 Psig. The discovery has opened up a new avenue and would add gas reserve base of OGDCL and of the country.
