Project Profile

Value: Undisclosed
Location: 144 km (89 mi) south of Lavan Island, Persian Gulf, offshore Iran
Production: 220,000 b/d of oil
GLP gas injection capacity: almost 60 MMcf/d (1.7 MMcm/d)
Start-up Year: -

Oil production from the Salman field offshore Iran has increased by 10,000 b/d following the installation of the GLP platform. Iranian Offshore Oil Co. (IOOC) is the operator of the field. The platform became operational after implementation of a gas injection compressor and accelerated gas flow. The KPP and PP3 platforms are already in service, while work continues to bring the SKC2 and SKB3 platforms online. GLP’s gas injection capacity is almost 60 MMcf/d (1.7 MMcm/d). The equipment will boost oil recovery and lead to a reduction in gas flaring. Salman overlaps Iranian and UAE waters. The location is 144 km (89 mi) south of Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf.

The field has 44 oil wells, 10 water injection wells, and facilities to produce 220,000 b/d of oil. This is sent through a subsea pipeline to onshore facilities in Lavan Island for processing and storage. Remaining gas from Salman’s nine gas wells is exported to Siri Island via a 36-in. pipeline. Oil is part-processed on the Salman platform before being sent to Lavan Island for secondary processing, transportation and storage.
