Saudi Aramco plans to build a new gas plant at al-Fadhili oilfield. The new plant will process gas coming from two fields; Khursaniyah and Hasbah. The Fadhili plant, which is scheduled to be operational in 2019, will be able to deliver 520 million scfd of gas to the market. Aramco has already invited companies to bid for design and management contracts for the Fadhili project. The due date for bids were August 4th 2013. The gas in Hasbah contains high levels of hydrogen sulphide, nitrogen and CO2. Gas with high levels of sulphur - also called sour gas - is tougher to process than other natural gas reserves. Fadhili is a greenfield development located 30 km west of the city of Jubail in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia. When completed, the gas plant will have a capacity for around 2,500 MMSCFD.

Tecnicas Reunidas and Petrofac: EPC contract worth US$4.7 billion to build the Fadhili gas plant in Saudi Arabia for state oil giant Saudi Aramco.
Petrofac: Contract by Saudi Aramco to undertake the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a sulphur recovery plant as part of their Fadhili gas programme. Petrofac’s scope of work includes the construction of six sulphur recovery trains with associated facilities for the sulphur and heavy duty oil handling, loading, unloading and storage; sour water stripper, flare system and waste water treatment plant.
