The Sirri NGL project is a natural gas liquids project launched by Iran in 2004. The project involves construction of a gas to liquid plant to produce 270 million cubic feet of gases associated with oil into liquids per day to produce natural gas, 46, 000 barrels of ethane and 79 million cubic feet of methane per day. The project started in 2004 and cost US$251 million to construct. The Sirri NGL project, as part of the Mehr Mandegar (Lasting Kindness) projects, was inaugurated on 14 February 2013. The main objectives of the Sirri NGL are exploitation of natural-gas condensate and collection of associated gases, as well as environment improvement, job creation and economic development in the region.The facility has the capacity to collect 3.5 million cubic metres of associated gases on a daily basis for changing it into light gas as feedstock for petrochemical plants and injection to national gas grid.
In addition to a processing firm, the Sirri NGL project includes Sirri-Qeshm-Kish seabed pipeline, feeding Kish gas plant and two compressor stations in Kish Island and Nasr rig. An important development in this project is the installation of new facilities for reduction, redirection, transportation and recycling of the products that otherwise would have vaporised during the production process. Sirri Island is one of the six operational regions of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company’s (IOOC) in Persian Gulf. Sirri Island, is an island in the Persian Gulf belonging to Iran. Sirri island is situated 76 km from Bandar-e Lengeh and 50 km west of Abu Musa island. The island is one of six in the Abu Musâ Island Group.
