Tuba is situated in southern Iraq between the Rumalia and Zubair fields. It was discovered in 1959 and launched first-oil in 2009 at around 10,000 bpd. The facilities are capable of processing around 50,000 bpd, but the field is unlikely to reach this because of bottlenecks in infrastructure coupled with higher production at neighbouring fields.
Iraq later invited ExxonMobil and Pertamina to participate in a multi-billion dollar EOR project to lift output at Tuba as part of the Integrated South project.
