The Shakrok block covers an area of 418 square kilometres and is located in the Iraq Kurdistan Region 50 kilometres north east of Erbil. A production sharing contract with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq has an initial three-year exploration period in which the joint venture plans to acquire 2-D seismic and drill at least one exploration well. Hess Corp with 64% interest is the operator of the block with Petroceltic International PLC holding a 16% interest and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq holding the remaining 20% interest.
