Kavia Petrochemical Plant is a plant located in Assaluyeh, onshore installations of South Pars gas field and started in 2006 with 484 million euros (US$520 millions) investment. Kavian Petrochemical plant produces two million tonnes of Ethylene per year supplying the downstream petrochemical plants. This plant required an input of 94,000 M³/h of water. This is supplied through a seawater intake system, the system required 9 automatic self-cleaning filters each with a maximum capacity of 11,000 M³/H and able to filter out particles which are over 1000 microns in size. The filters needed to have an automatic backflush mechanism in order to maintain a constant flow of water into the plant.
