Project Profile
Location: 30km off the coast of Mauritania, Mauritania
Area: 14,125 km²
Water Depth: 5-2,100m
The block is located 30km off the coast of Mauritania with water depths ranging from 5m to 2,100m. Like Chariot’s Namibian portfolio, it is in an area where petroleum systems are proven but exploration is very immature. Also, as in Namibia, Mauritania offers a favourable working environment, fair fiscal terms and a developed, stable resource sector. Chariot has identified several potential target levels and a fairway for trapping geometries likely to be largely stratigraphic but with structural potential too that requires 3D seismic to demonstrate presence and potential size. The quality of source rock and of identified reservoirs as well as the size of analogue trap types means the potential prospect size in C19 is large and prospective resources could be very large.
