Project Profile
Estimated Value: US$600 Million.
Scope: Construction of 275km pipeline.
Completion Year: 2011.
Location: Ghardaia province, Algeria.
The Gas Pipeline GK3 – Lot 3 Project involves the construction of a 275km pipeline from the Hassi R\'Mel oil and gas gathering complex to Chaiba in the northwest, as well as a 310km pipeline that will run from Chaiba to the Liquefied natural gas terminal at Skikda, known as GK3.
The pipeline will provide gas for export from the terminal at Skikda and also as feedstock for the koudiat Edrouche power plant and the planned Galsi sub-sea export to Europe. This is in line with a programme which seeks to increase Algeria\'s gas pipeline network by more than 1,400 kilometres, installing an additional 10 main pipelines.
This is expected to increase the total network length to 21,475km and its capacity to 415million tonnes of oil equivalent. The project involves the installation of 48-in pipelines from the country\'s central oil and gas fields to gas processing and export facilities at Skikda and Arzew on the northern coast. Sonatrach will produce the pipeline.
