Project Profile
Alpha and Bronco
Value: $1.3 billion
Startup Year: Unknown
Location: Persian Gulf
Reserves: 620 million barrels (recoverable).
The project will see the drilling of three offshore wells, construction of well head equipment, a 25 kilometre, an 8-in pipeline and a production platform. In May 2012, Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum announced the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) had been signed up for services for the Alpha and Bronco fields under contracts worth a reported US$1.3 billion.
Alpha and Bronco are believed to contain 500 million barrels and 120 million barrels of recoverable oil reserves respectively. They should peak with output of 30,000 bpd. Alpha alone has a production capacity of 7-10,000 bpd.
In-place reserves at Bronco reportedly amount to 411 million barrels, but around 53-70 million barrels could be lost to natural reservoir depletion.
