The project will see the exploration drilling of a newly discovered gas field located in the northern area of Jalamid, 90 kilometres east of Tarif. Tests showed the Jalamid-3 discovery well flowing at 12.1 million cubic feet per day. The initial estimates show that the gas can be exploited commercially.
Jalamid will be the first producing Saudi Arabian shale project when it launches by the end of 2017. It will send 5.6 mcm per day for processing at the Wa’ad Al Shamal complex. In December 2016, JGC Gulf International was reported to be developing infrastructure for Jalamid, which includes an engineered surface facility and 18 miles of pipeline. UK-based Maloney Metalcraft secured a sub-contract to build four gas treatment separation and filtration packages for the system.
