The Block BC (pre-Khuff) Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) entered into with the Government of the State of Qatar, in 2009 stipulates that 2-D and 3-D seismic surveys will be conducted by CNOOC Middle East and that at least three exploration wells will be drilled by 2014.
The exact location of the blocks is unclear, although the structures are beneath eastern offshore producing fields — QP’s Bul Hanine and Maydan Mazhan, Occidental’s Idd el-Shargi North Dome, and the Al-Karkara field of Qatar Petroleum Development.
