Project Profile
Value: US$500 Million
Completion/Startup: Q2 2014
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) plans to implement Wara Pressure Maintenance Project to provide pressure support for Wara formation in the Burgan field near gathering centre 14.
The project includes new water treatment facilities, taking 1 million bpd of produced water directly from existing Balance Tanks at Water Disposal Plants I & II. After treated, water is transported via a high pressure pipeline to 200 injection wellheads. The 200 new water injection wells are required to meet sub-surface needs for water injection through 22 manifolds.
The Greater Burgan Area includes the Burgan, Magwa and Ahmadi fields and contains about 70 billion barrels of oil, making it second only to Saudi Arabia’s Ghawar field.
