The large-scale development involves the development of high sulfur content gas reservoirs within the Shah Field, located on-shore approximately 180 km south-west of the city of Abu Dhabi. The project will involve several gas gathering systems, construction of processing trains to process one billion cubic feet per day of gas at Shah to produce around 500 million cubic feet per day of network gas and other related hydrocarbon liquids, in addition to new gas and liquid pipelines.
Production from the field is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2014. Abu Dhabi Gas Development Company Limited or Al Hosn Gas, formed by Emiri Decree on February 1st 2010 will manage and operate the project and develop the Shah Gas Field for and on behalf of ADNOC and Occidental. It will also process 4,400 tonnes of natural-gas liquids a day, 35,000 barrels a day of condensates and 9,200 tonnes a day of sulfur. Together with Tecnicas Reunidas, Punj Lloyd also won a contract worth US$463 million for gas gathering at the massive Shah sour gas development in Abu Dhabi.
