The project involves construction of an offshore regasification terminal with a capacity of 400 million cubic feet a day which later could be expanded to 800 million cfd. It also consists of an unloading system for vessels, LNG storage facilities, re-gasification facilities, a distribution network, marine works, a jetty and other associated utilities.
In 2010, nine international contractors submitted proposals for the build and operate contract for Bahrain’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal.
Bahrain LNG approached banks in July 2016 to secure US$600-700 million in project finance debt.
