Project Profile
Value: $1,500 Million
Location: Mehran, Ilam province, Iran
Recoverable Reserves: 400 - 650 million barrels of crude oil
Startup Year: March 2013
Being located 20 km southeast of the city of Mehran in Ilam province, Anaran oil block was discovered in 2005 by Norway’s Statoil and Russia’s LUKOIL. The block is estimated to hold recoverable reserves of 400 to 650 million barrels of crude oil.
One discovery was made in the Azar field in 2005 and another in 2006 at the Changuleh field.
The section of Changouleh lying in Iraqi territory is known as Badra. Changouleh is located near Azar oil field. Changouleh is estimated to hold 4.3 billion barrels of oil in place with API at 22. In order to transfer oil that would be supplied under early production, a 130-km pipeline, 8” in diameter, is being used for delivery to Dehloran
The Azar field contains around 400 million barrels of oil. The field could yield as much as 50,000-65,000 bpd for 25 years.
Field Development Phases (Changouleh field)
• Discovered in 1999 but never developed (Changuleh oilfield)
• 2 billion barrels of in-place resources (Changuleh oilfield)
Phase 1: Output = 15,000 bpd, Duration = 40 months
Four new wells to be drilled and two exploration wells to be repaired. Furthermore, a 100-km oil pipeline as well as oil and gas separation facilities to be established.
Phase 2: Output = 50,000 bpd, Duration = 60 months
Thirteen new wells to be drilled and infrastructural facilities along with pipelines are envisaged to be provided.
The development of both fields will overlap and within 5 years production at the two fields would reach between 140,000 bpd and 150,000 bpd.
DNO inked a MoU with state-owned NIOC to carry out a study for development of the field. (November, 21)
