Project Profile
Value: US$11 billion (OIES, reported)
Location: Habshan, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Area: unknown
Start-up Year: Q3\' 2013
The Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (GASCO) Integrated Gas Development (IGD) project is aimed at adding new onshore and offshore gas processing facilities at Habshan and Ruwais in Abu Dhabi. The project was launched during the third quarter of 2013. GASCO is a unit of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ANDOC) and deals with its gas projects. The new facilities of the IGD project will enable gas to be received from the Umm Shaif field and processed at Habshan and Ruwais.
Additional gas wells were drilled at Umm Shaif for transfer to the new facilities on Das Island. Gas is transported via a 200 km pipeline to the Habshan plant for further processing. The project is being undertaken to provide a natural gas supply to consumers in Abu Dhabi and meet their growing demand for energy. It will also link the onshore and offshore facilities of companies operating under ANDOC. In December 2009, Gasco said the Habshan 5 process plant would allow the sale of an additional 900 mcf per day of gas, plus another 1,200 tonnes of NGLs.
