Sajaa Field was discovered in December, 1980 on Amoco\'s 100% working interest concession in Sharjah. The field is significant as it is both Sharjah\'s largest producing field and Sharjah\'s first gas-condensate development. BP Sharjah Ltd has operated the onshore gas processing plant; LPG Terminal and Condensate Terminal on behalf of the Sharjah Government since merging with Amoco in 1999. It supplies condensate gas and liquefied natural gas to Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority and to foreign markets. The field has reached a maximum output of 800,000 cubic feet of gas per day and 50,000 barrels per day of oil condensates.

In 2010, Petrofac was awarded a 5 year Duty Holder contract by the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) in order to operate the Sajaa Gas Plant located in Sharjah. The Sajaa gas plant is not only an important source of export of revenue for the Emirate but it is strategically important in providing a large percentage of the fuel gas for the local power utility stations in Sharjah and as such attracts high visibility at senior Government levels.
