The Nasiriya refinery project involves the construction of a refinery near the city of Nasiriya in southern Iraq. The refinery is expected to produce 300,000 barrels of oil a day to address an acute fuel shortage In Iraq.
The crude processing capacity of this grassroots refinery will be 300,000 barrels per stream day, producing a range of products, including LPG, three grades of gasoline, Jet A-1, kerosene, light gas oil, heavy diesel oil, fuel oil, asphalt and sulphur. The design of the refinery would be made to meet predominantly Euro IV product specifications to provide products for export as well as for domestic use.
The refinery is planned to be totally self-sufficient in utilities except for the provision of raw water from the Euphrates River and dry gas from the nearby gas pipeline and to meet Iraqi and international health, safety and environmental regulations.
