Saudi Kayan industrial complex will be located at Jubail Industrial City with an annual production capacity exceeding 4 million metric tons of petrochemical and chemical products. SABIC holds further 35 percent of the company’s capital and Kayan holds the remaining 20 percent.45 percent of the capital has been offered for public subscription at a value of 10 Saudi Riyals per share. Saudi Kayan industrial complex will add some specialised chemicals to the Saudi marketplace that will be produced in Saudi Arabia for the first time. These products include aminoethanols, aminomethyls, dimethylformamide, choline chloride, dimethylethanol, dimethylethanolamine, ethoxylates, phenol, cumene and polycarbonate which will provide wide opportunities for downstream industries. This is in addition to ethylene, propylene, polypropylene, ethylene glycol, butene-1 and other products.

Technip SA, Paris: Contract for work related to construction of an additional cracking furnace as part of a debottlenecking project designed to expand ethylene production. Technip will provide basic engineering and equipment for the furnace, the design of which will be based the service company’s proprietary Ultra Selective Conversion (USC) furnace technology. To be executed from its operating center in Milton Keyes, UK, Technip’s scope of work on the project is due to be completed in 2017. (May 2016)
