The Koigen Central Prospect is hosted by Norwegian Production Licence 718 and it is located in the Barents Sea, off Norway. Production Licence 718 was awarded in 2013 in the 22nd licensing round on the Norwegian shelf. The area in this licence consists of the blocks 7317/8 and 7317/9. Statoil Petroleum AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 60%. The other licensees are Dea Norge AS and Petoro AS. Statoil has received the consent to drill wildcat well 7317/9-1 in a prospect Koigen Central. It will be drilled from the Songa Enabler Cat D semi-submersible drilling rig. This is the first well to be drilled in the license.
