Project Profile
Estimated value: US$4,000 million
Location: Barents Sea, Norway
Depth: 376 metres
Discovery: July 2017
Blåmann permit is located in production license 849, around 113km northwest of Hammerfest and 25km from Goliat in the Barents Sea, at 376m water depth. The licence PL 849 was awarded in 2016 in Norway’s Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) licensing round. Licencees in the Blåmann permit, PL849, are Statoil, Eni and Petoro. The prospect consists of two segments, Blåmann West and Blåmann East. Drilling of the well 7121/8-1 was planned in the western segment. In March 2017, Statoil had received consent from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to drill exploration well 7121/8-1 in Blåmann permit, with the possibility of a sidetrack well. The primary purpose of drilling Blåmann is to find hydrocarbons in sandstones of Jurassic age. Statoil made a small gas discovery in the Blåmann well in July 2017. Recoverable volumes are estimated at 1.5-3 billion standard cubic meters (bcm), approximately 10-20 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe).
