Project Profile
Location: Polarbase, Norway
Storage capacity: 1250 cubic metres
Pump capacity: 90 tonnes per hour
Start-up: June 2017
Polarbase LNG bunkering station is located at Polarbase, the supply base for the Barents Sea, in Hammerfest in northern Noway. The facility has an LNG storage capacity of 1250 cubic metres and a pump capacity of 90 tonnes per hour and is equipped to handle vessels longer than 250 metres with a 13-metre draft. The bunkering facility has been tested for different ships, from the small Statoil tugboats to the Coastal Guard and ENI´s supply vessel, including the tanker Bit Viking with 1000 cubic metres of LNG storage on board. In 2014, the first part of the plant at Polarbase was put into operation, and delivery capacity increased to approximately 200 cubic metres. The latest expansion allows for the bunkering of 1000 cubic metres in one operation.
