The Talakan oilfields were discovered in the 1980s and were some of the first deposits to be developed in Eastern Siberia. Largescale production at the Central-Talakanskoye field began in October 2008. The cluster also includes the Central-, North- and East-Talakanskoye fields, as well as the Alinskoye, Peleduskoye, Verkhnepeleduskoye and Stanakhskoye fields. Surgutneftegaz has not disclosed reserve estimates for the entire cluster, although Central- and North- Talakanskoye contained 170 million tonnes (1.25 billion barrels) of oil and 74.2 bcm of gas in ABC1 reserves at the end of March 2017.
