Start-up year: 2007
The Mugardos LNG import terminal is located in Mugardos, La Coruña, Spain. The terminal began to operate in November 2007 and has a capacity to provide 3.6 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas per year. The project was developed by the Reganosa Group, a consortium including Endesa, Gasifica, Tojeiro Group, Sonatrach, the Galician government, Caixa Galicia, Banco Pastor and Caixanova. Its design stands out for the use of cutting-edge solutions that ensure the efficiency of the terminal. Its berth (145.000m³ capacity) is suitable for the docking of any gas carrier of the world fleet. The unloading arms are connected to two tanks capable of storing up to 300,000 cubic metres of LNG and keeping liquefied natural gas at a temperature of -160º C at a pressure close to the atmospheric pressure. The stored LNG can be loaded onto ships or trucks or sent to the regasification facilities of the plant.
