Project Profile
Location: Southern Barents Sea, Norway
Licence received: May 15, 2009
Gross Reserves: 258 MMboe
Well target depth: 2500 metres
Exploration start-up: September 2016
Filicudi lies in production licence 533 located in southern Barents Sea, bordering the Lundin-operated licences containing the Alta and Gohta discoveries, as well as the Statoil-operated Johan Castberg discovery, offshore, Norway. The area in this license consists of blocks 7219/12 and 7220/10. Production license 533 was granted on May 15, 2009, in the 20th licensing round on the Norwegian shelf.
The drilling of Filicudi prospect comes under the 2016 exploration and appraisal campaign in the Loppa High area in the southern Barents Sea launched by Lundin Petroleum. The campaign comprises drilling of three wells including Filicudi prospect. The Filicudi prospect is expected to contain a Jurassic sandstone reservoir analogous to the Johan Castberg discovery. The Filicudi prospect is estimated to contain gross unrisked prospective resources of 258 MMboe.
The oil company received consent from the Norwegian offshore safety watchdog, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) in August 2016, to use Ocean Rig\'s semi-submersible rig Leiv Eiriksson to drill well 7219/12-1, with a tentative spud date in September 2016 at the earliest. The well has a target depth of 2500 metres with a primary reservoir target in Jurassic and Triassic rocks and a secondary Triassic target. It also includes options for one sidetrack and up to three production tests, depending on the drilling results.
Hufsa prospect
Hufsa prospect is located in PL533, south of the Filicudi oil discovery. The Hufsa prospect has multiple Jurassic and Triassic sandstone reservoir targets requiring a two branch well to test the full extent of the prospect. The Hufsa prospect is estimated to contain gross unrisked prospective resources of 285 MMboe.
Hurri prospect
Located in in the production license PL533 in the southern Barents Sea, the prospect sits some two kilometers southwest of the Filicudi oil discovery. The Hurri prospect is estimated to contain gross unrisked prospective resources of 218 MMboe.
