Project Profile
Location: central west, onshore Lithuania
Area: 1,535 sq km
Drilling depth: 1,200 m
Start-up Year: -
The Raseiniai licence covers 1,535 sq kms onshore Lithuania. Tethys Oil has commenced a three-well drilling programme on the Raseiniai licence. The first well, the Bedugnis-1 well, is planned to be drilled vertically to a total measured depth of 1,100 metres. Drilling and evaluation are expected to continue for approx. 45 days.
The wells are targeting Silurian reefs mapped by an 80 sq km 3-D seismic study completed in 2014. The Lapgiriai-1 exploration well was drilled in 2013. lt confirmed the presence of oil in the Silurian limestone formation and small amounts of oil were produced to surface. The Silurian/Ordovician shale section is also present in the Raiseiniai license. Thus, there is an oil shale potential being investigated.
