Project Profile

Location: Zone B of the central Adriatic, Italy
Area: 82.61 sq km
Reserves: 24.6 bcf (most likely case) (Dalla prospect)
Water Depth: 60 m

D503 BR-CS is located in Zone B of the central Adriatic. Geologically, it falls within the gas and oil prolific offshore of the Umbria – Marche region, a peri-foredeep trough of the Central Apennines.

The area covered by the permit was first explored by ENI and Shell between 1968 and 1975 under permit B.R11.AS. 2D seismic was acquired in 1968-1969 and the first well Dora-1 was drilled in 1972 as a gas-condensate discovery in the Scaglia limestones, testing 20.2 MMscfd from the interval 1361-1393m. In 1975 the permit was converted into concession B.C6.AS. In 1976 Shell assigned all of its working interest to ENI. In 1980 additional 2D survey was acquired and in 1982 a second well Elisa-1 was drilled as a sub-commercial heavy oil discovery on a structure similar to Dora. Dora-2 appraisal well was drilled in 1966 as a gas discovery but the reservoir quality was inferior to that of Dora-1, testing only 0.6 MMscfd from the interval 1397-1410m. The concession was subsequently relinquished in November 2005.

Recent Permit Activity Sound Energy applied for the permit in 2009. The Company is required to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment in order to convert the licence to a full permit. To date the only other activity has been G&G data studies. Gross P50 contingent resources for the Dora discovery have been estimated by Fugro-Robertson to be 17.6 Bscf.
