The Hagar prospect is located in license PL642 in the Norwegian North Sea. Repsol Exploration Norge AS (RENAS) received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway to drill the exploration well in the Norwegian Sea using Bredford Dolphin drilling rig. RENAS is the operator for production licence 642 in block 6306/5 in the southern Norwegian Sea. The exploration well 6306/5-2 is located at the Hagar prospect.
The drill site is 80 km south-west of the Draugen field, and 65 km west of Smøla. Water depth at the site is 226 metres. Drilling is scheduled to begin in May 2015 and estimated to last 64 days, depending on whether a discovery is made. The well will be drilled by Bredford Dolphin, which is a semi-submersible drilling rig of the Aker H-3 type. It was built in 1977 and upgraded in 1999. The rig is registered in Singapore and classified by DNV GL.
