The Gierałtowice prospect is on the Bielsko-Biała concession in Karpaty and is targeting 4 Bcf of mid-case recoverable gas in two target reservoirs - the Upper Carboniferous sandstone being the primary target with the Lower Carboniferous limestone as a secondary target. San Leon Energy holds 60% and is operator of the concession, with PGNiG holding the remaining 40%.
In January 2015, the second well in the 3-well programme, Gierałtowice on the Bielsko-Biała concession in Karpaty, was completed and tested and is being plugged and abandoned. All planned targets were penetrated. Low gas rates were achieved but the thick sandstone primary target reservoir did not have a sufficient seal, and thinner sands associated with the expected coal beds were insufficient on their own to provide commercial rates during testing.
