Project Profile

The Isarene permit area is located in the south of the Illizi Basin in South Eastern Algeria. The area covers some 7,520 sq km (equivalent to about thirty North Sea blocks). The In Amenas project is located 120km north of Isarene.

The Isarene PSC covers Blocks 228 and 229a, and contains the Ain Tsila gas-condensate discovery. The Ain Tsila field is estimated to hold reserves of 2.1 trillion cubic feet of sales gas, 67 million barrels of condensate, and 108 million barrels of liquid petroleum gas (LPG). The gas condensate field was discovered in 2009, following the drilling of the Ain Tsila-1 well. Hydrocarbons in the Illizi Basin are located within Silurian shales found in Carboniferous and Devonian and Ordovician reservoirs, with the largest volumes found in the Ordovician reservoirs. The Isarene concession comprises three other prospects namely Isarene Nord-Est, Isarene Nord-Ouest and Hassi Tab Tab.
